Repair Process

When a spindle is sent to Precision Drive Systems for Repair or Evaluation, it follows the procedure shown in this flowchart.

Repair Process
  1. Check In - The spindle is received and a Job Ticket is created.
  2. Disassembly - The spindle is completely disassembled and all parts are cleaned and arranged
  3. Evaluation - All parts are inspected for damage or wear and are tested to insure they are within tolerance. Necessary replacement parts are noted on an evaluation sheet.
Customer Quote - At this point, a quotation for the repair is provided to the customer. If the customer decides not to have the repair completed, their is no charge for the evaluation. PDS will return the parts unrepaired.
  4. Repair - Once the quotation is approved, the spindle rebuild begins. Standard spindle repairs are typically completed within 3-4 business days.
  5. Assembly - The spindle is assembled in our clean room environment by factory trained technicians and restored to factory specifications.
  6. Testing - Every rebuilt spindle is subjected to our stringent run-in procedures, including precision balancing in four planes and a six hour dynamic test which Includes incremental increases in speed and temperature measurements at hourly intervals.
Note - if the spindle does not pass our testing procedures, the process is repeated to determine any further issues

Onces the spindle passes testing and completes final balancing, it is ready to ship back to the customer. Shipping methods vary depending on customer preference.
